Professional Review

Classic SCP: Containment Breach returns in a multiplayer version. Now you can choose to be a scientist, a rebel or even a monster. Users can download SCP: Secret Laboratory in beta version only, but it’s still a breathtaking experience.

Graphics 4/5

The looks of the game are not different from Containment Breach with the recent achievements in graphics taking into account. Judging on many SCP: Secret Laboratory reviews, many old-timers are not satisfied with the graphics choices developers make, because a standard Intel HD chip is not enough for this game. Still, the graphics are a top priority in making the nightmarish world of secret experiments seem real, so it’s most unlikely that the team at Northwood studios would make concessions.

Gameplay 5/5

There’s no doubt about SCP: Secret Laboratory being the most thrilling multiplayer action game available for free. It offers multiple roles: a Nine-Tailed Fox, Chaos Insurgency, Scientist, D-Personnel, or one of four SCP's. Every part has its goals, weaknesses, and specialties. Nine-Tailed Fox is a military group with a goal to eliminate any SCP’s and save the scientists. Chaos Insurgency is also interested in eliminating SCP’s, but they fight against Nine-Tailed Fox and Scientists as well, their primary goal being the destruction of the facility. Scientists and D-Personnel representatives have a task to escape to escape and have a tendency to team up with other players. SCP’s must kill as many players as possible.

Players in militia groups start the game with a key card that gives them access to different branches of the facility, and probably some kind of a weapon and a health kit. You penetrate the facility level by level beginning from one of the main entrances. The range of weapons isn’t extensive, but it’s sufficient for taking out human enemies. As for, SCP’s, you will need more than just guns here anyway. Scientists start the game only with a key card, and D-Personnel must get their cards from scientists or find them somewhere at the facility to get somewhere. Key cards need to be upgraded on a particular machine to gain access to leaving the facility. SCP players have nothing but their abilities, but they are pretty much enough for killing others.

Controls 3.5/5

The game is still in beta version, so it often crashes, and it can be even tough to enter it because the server is often overloaded. But when you’re already in the game, the keyboard controls are easy to learn and convenient. There isn’t any official tutorial yet so you may experience some troubles on your first tries, but YouTube videos solve the problem. A lot of things in the game depend on social interaction between players, so the microphone is the key device here, though it’s not on the special requirements list.

Replay Value 4.5

SCP: Secret Laboratory is so hugely attractive because of the many scenarios, and the human factor adds limitless opportunities for replay. Developers are working on new monsters, so it will take ages for you to learn the mechanics and unique features of every type of character. Probably, two or three of your first rounds will serve as a tutorial, but then it will get more exciting. Besides, the wholly-made secret laboratory world can be extremely addictive, and you will return for more blood-boiling experiences.

SCP: Secret Laboratory is the latest word in multiplayer action games. As soon as developers work out all of its issues, it has all the chances of becoming the best multiplayer action game with horror elements. There are still some problems with character balance and ways of reaching the server, but, hopefully, they will be solved with patches and new modes. The game has a fantastic atmosphere with well-crafted ambient sounds, and the graphics are already quite good. Our primary recommendation for you is to play now to enter the final version as a pro.

A beta version of a perfect multiplayer-only game that promises to get even more thrilling in the future. Download SCP: Secret Laboratory to become an experienced scientist, insurgent or evil creature before everyone else does!
